The 'AHS' Cast Slayed Their First Golden Globes

by Julia Musto

The American Horror Story cast first attended the Golden Globes in 2012, but it feels like it has been forever; the 2012 Golden Globes red carpet seems worlds away from 2016. Now, the 2016 Golden Globes is quickly approaching, and American Horror Story is once again nominated.

In a time span of five years, the show and its constantly rotating cast have been nominated for 15 Critics' Choice Awards (with four wins), 70 Emmy Awards (13 wins), and nine Golden Globes Awards (one win by queen Jessica Lange). With six seasons under the show's belt, everyone is looking forward to seeing Lady Gaga compete for the Golden Globe this time around for Best Actress in a Limited Series or TV Movie — especially considering the American Horror Story Golden Globe track record.

However, forgetting the 2012 cast at the Golden Globes would be a huge mistake; in order to see how far us American Horror Story fans have come, we must look back. Back to a time where the cast was not constantly in flux; back to a time where we had some sort of a clue about what the heck was going on.

Let me set the scene for you. At the 69th Golden Globe Awards it was Jessica Lange, Connie Britton, Dylan McDermott, Denis O'Hare,Taissa Farmiga, and Evan Peters. Murder House and Asylum were the two story lines. Glee was still big. I was a freshman at NYU. Ricky Gervais was hosting. Moneyball, The Descendants, and The Help, were nominated for best motion picture. The red carpet was littered with stars. . .

1. Connie Britton

Connie Britton was already the lovable Tami Taylor from Friday Night Lights (Texas forever), so American Horror Story was a complete turnaround. However, her flower print dress was not a big shift fashion-wise.

2. Jessica Lange

Jessica Lange was the big winner (as per usual). She rocked it with a classy, black, formfitting, dress.

3. Taissa Farmiga

Taissa Farmiga was a newcomer to the Hollywood glam scene. Her pale, PALE, skin was complemented well by the pale mulberry sweetheart cut, drapy, dress.

4. Sarah Paulson

Sarah Paulson's cleavage-baring neutral dress was romantic and paired well with her makeup and voluminous wavy blonde locks. The little bit of silver sparklies were a nice addition.

5. Evan Peters

This is our first look at Evan Peters. He broke out in this role, and looked handsome even with that goofy grin and curly blonde mop on top of his head.

It will be interesting to see our AHS cast this year; I'm sure there will be less floral prints and more shine especially with Lady Gaga on the carpet. It's certainly not 2012 anymore.
