Jessica Simpson Cut & Colored Her Hair, Leaving Her Signature Look Behind In 2015 — PHOTOS

New year, new you is practically the unofficial mantra of the month, and celebrities are getting in on the makeover madness, too. Jessica Simpson cut her hair, according to People Magazine, but she isn't embracing the bob or the lob. Wonder if that trend is going to die out in the new year?

The singer kicked off 2016 in a pretty big way by updating her hairstyle and giving herself a fresh new look. Simpson was photographed at a party on Wednesday night in Los Angeles, and showed off a much shorter, cropped cut. Her hair now falls just below her shoulders, and she wore it in messy, undone waves. It's definitely not short enough to be considered a lob, but she took considerable length off and added some texture, so it does feel like a pretty major difference. See, this is proof that you don't have to get a lob/bob to make a drastic hair change.

But length wasn't the only change she made. Simpson also updated her blonde, taking her previously platinum locks a more natural, honey shade of blonde. It's a whole lot of changes at once, but I mean, go big or go home, right?

This look is a far edgier one that we're used to seeing on Simpson, but she looks amaze.

Plus, it allows her to play up her hair's natural wave and texture.

It goes to show that short hair doesn't have to be limited to a bob or a lob. I mean, look how long her hair was before:

Quite a difference, right? Her long hair definitely felt way more glam, and this shorter 'do will allow her to experiment with more edgy styles. As for the color, it's much more similar to her natural hair color than the platinum highlights she's been rocking lately:

So it might be a little less maintenance. Plus, it just compliments her coloring and looks a little more natural. But either way, she rocks it.
