Donald Trump Basically Ignored Nikki Haley's Jabs

by Stephanie Casella

Donald Trump has an opinion about pretty much everything. President Obama's final State of the Union was no exception, though any mildly informed person could take a broad swing at Trump's opinion on anything "Obama" and hit the proverbial nail on the head. But what about Trump's comeback to South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley's rebuttal to the SOTU? Surprisingly, Trump remained mum on the subject. In fact, though he spoke on the supposed tediousness and lethargy of the president's speech, he said nothing about Haley after she delivered the Republican Party's rebuttal.

This may astonish Americans, since Haley did make a few obvious jabs in Trump's direction — namely, when she mentioned how easily some might allow anger to guide their thinking:

Today, we live in a time of threats like few others in recent memory. During anxious times, it can be tempting to follow the siren call of the angriest voices. We must resist that temptation. No one who is willing to work hard, abide by our laws, and love our traditions should ever feel unwelcome in this country.

But although Trump spoke a few words on the slowness of the president's speech, he has not concocted a proper reply to Haley's remarks.

I, for one, am excited to see what, if any, insane things he might say in the days to come, because he has a long history of hurling insults at women after they throw him a bit of judgment.

Is he asleep? Well, no, that's not true, either, going by his most recent tweet of the evening. He is awake enough to throw some shade at Hillary Clinton in the wee hours.

So will The Donald respond to Haley? It's in the air for now, though there are rumors that he did indeed unfollow her on Twitter. This isn't confirmed, but wouldn't it prove the perfect passive-aggressive retaliation to her passive-aggressive condemnation of his quarrelsome ways?

It sure would, but never fear. Trump rarely ever stands to take criticism — especially, as he has often explained, when he feels it is untrue. He hates liars, as he has said in multiple interviews, which means that a quintessential Trump retort could await Haley sooner than later. Get ready, America.
