One Direction is rumored to be splitting up for good, which means that this "hiatus" nonsense may have been nothing but a cover-up — say it ain't so! First Zayn ditches the band for a solo career, then the foursome tells us they're taking a short break, and now they are calling it quits for real? How much more can our hearts take?!
The alleged breakup news broke on Wednesday, and all hell has already broken loose on social media. According to US Weekly, an anonymous source said the band allegedly plans to extend their hiatus into a permanent split. “The 1D thing just ran its course. They’ll remain friends, but they are exhausted and want solo careers.” the source told US Weekly. Why, then, would they pretend this was just a hiatus? This is still only a rumor, and, Bustle's own Jamie Primeau points out, many bands have reunited after spending time apart.
Fingers crossed this rumor isn't true, but if it is, their music isn't the only thing that will be missed.
