Fashion Week's Weirdest Front-Row Odd Couples of All Time

It's not always the clothes on the runway — or the street style seen outside "the tents" — that get us talking. Sometimes, all it takes is a really, really random front-row matchup to make a designer's show even more memorable. Who can forget Nicki Minaj and Anna Wintour making headlines as a power (odd) couple when they were spotted sitting next to each other at the Carolina Herrera's Spring 2012 show? Enough said.

As the wonderfully weird and exclusive Fashion Week nears, consider this a refresher in the wackiest and most unexpected front-row sightings to date — the kind that truly make you do a double take.

Nicki Minaj and Anna Wintour

Nicki Minaj and Anna Wintour were spotted sitting together at the Carolina Herrera Spring 2012 show, and to this day, probably hold the title for “strangest front-row duo ever.” The weirdest part? The rapper, who dressed in a bright cotton-ball armor dress and neon tights, was actually somewhat color-coordinated with the iconic Vogue editor-in-chief.

Zachary Quinto, Kevin Jonas, Joe Jonas, Nick Jonas, and Colton Haynes

I’m not one to complain at the sight of a handsome man in a suit, but there’s something odd about this particularly dapper lineup at Richard Chai’s Spring 2014 show. Let’s put it this way: Zachary Quinto and Colton Haynes (aka the guys flanking the ex-Jonas Brothers) don’t look too psyched about their current front-row neighbors.

Sienna Miller and Harry Styles

Thanks to the Burberry Spring 2014 show in London, we now know what a Paloma Faith, Sienna Miller, Harry Styles, and Suki Waterhouse sandwich looks like.

Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Olivia Munn, Marisa Tomei, Camilla Belle, Katherine McPhee

The subtitle to this Michael Kors Spring 2013 seating lineup is, “let’s just lump all these random actresses together and see what happens.” But seriously, in what universe (other than this one) would Marisa Tomei in creepy Terry Richardson-esque aviators be wedged between Olivia Munn and Camilla Belle?

Kelly Osbourne and Abigail Breslin

Kelly Osbourne and Abigail Breslin were seat-mates at the Nanette Lepore Fall 2010 show. That is all.

Ryan Lochte and Tyra Banks

In some profound way, the whole Ryan Lochte and Tyra Banks seated together at Jeremy Scott Spring 2013 thing actually makes sense.

Kanye West, Milla Jovovich, Kim Kardashian, Reggie Bush

To think, just a handful of years ago — at the Y-3 Fall 2010 show, to be exact — Kim Kardashian sat with her then-boyfriend Reggie Bush, while Kanye West sat nearby. Now, this seating arrangement just seems silly.

Ivana Trump and Paula Abdul

What do you think Ivana Trump and Paula Adbul talked about at the Douglas Hannant Spring 2013 show? My money’s on reality TV.

Natalia Vodianova, Valentino Garavani, Jennifer Lopez, and Casper Smart

At the Valentino Spring 2013 runway show, you’ve got high-fashion royalty on one side (Natalia Vodianova and Valentino Garavani) and Jennifer Lopez with her younger dancer boyfriend on the other. Interesting mix to say the least.

Mary-Kate Olsen, Kate Hudson, Kristen Stewart, Claire Danes, Mia Wasikowska

Admittedly, this Burberry Fall 2010 front-row lineup is solidly A-list. But if you really think about it, what a random mix of actresses, right? Claire Danes next to Kristen Stewart? It made for a great photo-op.
