The newest spokeswoman of one of the world's biggest beauty brands is easy, breezy, and beautiful — inside and out. Actress, singer, and model Zendaya is CoverGirl's latest face, solidifying her place as a timeless beauty icon. Huge congratulations are in order, no?
In fact, it's almost surprising that Zendaya hadn't already inked a deal with a major cosmetic company, but I have a feeling this will be the first of many. Her first TV spot for CoverGirl will be aired during the Grammy Awards on Monday, Feb. 15 — after all, it's only fitting that her first commercial is set to run during music's very own Super Bowl. Talk about a grand entrance. She'll also rock CoverGirl's "Clean" line in a campaign set to drop this summer.
The honor is certainly well-deserved for the teen queen. Not only is she quickly becoming a hair and makeup idol, but she rocks an incomparable confidence and uniqueness that inspires girls of all ages (myself included.)
“I can’t wait to share some of my own beauty tips with fans, and work alongside COVERGIRL to continue empowering girls and women to celebrate their individuality," Zendaya said in a press release.
Beauty tips, you say? I'm all ears, Z. I mean, if you could break this look down for everyone, that'd be great...
Or maybe this colorful teaser. Purple brows never looked so good.
I'll settle for a tutorial on the perfect makeup selfie, though.
While I anxiously await those beauty tips we were promised, here are four reasons Zendaya will be an amazing, well, CoverGirl.
1. She's Creative
Zendaya won all of this year's Golden Globes when her tiered Marchesa gown magically became shorter after the ceremony. As it turns out, she pinned up the bottom layer so her dress wouldn't interfere with her strong dance game.
2. She's A Makeup Pro
People freaked when Zendaya floated the idea of creating makeup tutorials on Instagram. Um, I vote yes. Tell me your secrets.
3. She's A Fashion Risk-Taker
Zendaya is always fun to watch on the red carpet because her style is unique, individual, and never, ever boring. Last year's Oscars ensemble is a memorable favorite.
4. She's Culturally Aware
Speaking of Z's stunning Oscars look in 2015, she proved to everyone that she's not afraid to stand up for herself and point out prejudice after Giuliana Rancic's comments on the look. Rancic saying that Zendaya must smell like " patchouli oil and weed" may have been the fashion commentary heard 'round the world, but Zendaya's thoughtful and powerful Instagram response rang even louder.
5. She Supports Amazing Charities
Zendaya is certainly a budding philanthropist. In addition to her support for Michael Kors' Watch Hunger Stop campaign, she's also spoken out for UNAIDS. She even asked her fans to donate to her feedONE campaign for Convoy of Hope for her 18th birthday in 2014.
6. She's Fun
Her Instagram isn't all serious, though. She posts some pretty hilarious memes and funny pics when she's not busy putting her talents on display, speaking out against wrongdoings, or supporting charities. (All in a days work for Zendaya, I guess.)
7. She Keeps It Real
My personal favorite Zendaya trait, she unapologetically stands up for what she believes in. The Internet broke into a collective round of applause when she called out how ridiculous this editorial photoshop job was — "These are the things that make women self conscious, that create the unrealistic ideals of beauty that we have. Anyone who knows who I am knows I stand for honest and pure self love," she wrote in her Instagram post with a side-by-side comparison. Mic drop.
