Kim Richards' Ex Monty Brinson Passes Away

by Marenah Dobin

Fans of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills are familiar with Kim Richards' ex-husband Monty Brinson and his cancer diagnosis, and sadly, his battle has come to an end. Brinson has passed away at the age of 58. Even though they were no longer together, the reality star was really there for her ex-husband and the two were even shown living together when Richards was a cast member on RHOBH. Even with her troubles concerning sobriety, Richards was determined to help Brinson feel happy and healthy enough to attend their daughter Brooke Brinson's wedding last year. Luckily, Brinson was able to attend the nuptials.

The news of Brinson's death was confirmed by Richards' brother-in-law Rick Hilton on Sunday, Jan. 24. In an Instagram post, Hilton wrote a sweet message, saying,

We have lost Monty Brinson after a brave battle with cancer. His heart was as big as the moon and he was loved by all he met. He will be sorely missed. I love you always!

It is clear that even though Brinson and Richards were exes, that there was no love lost from the family.

Richards and Brinson definitely had a sweet relationship. It was evident to anyone who watched Real Housewives or followed her on Instagram, that she really loved and cared for him.

Brinson had an optimistic attitude throughout his cancer struggle, and posted many positive and even humorous sentiments on his personal Instagram account. Even when times got tough, he was still trying his best to pull through.

Instead of focusing on the grim nature of his diagnosis, he wanted his friends and family to focus on the positive times they've had together over the years.

Richards also kept things positive and thanked everyone for their support in the days leading up to Brinson's passing.

This news is no doubt devastating to Richards and anyone who knew Monty. Bustle has reached out to Richards' rep for comment on the news, but has not yet heard back.
