What's Season 1 'Bachelor' Alex Michel Doing Now? Even Chris Harrison Hasn't Seen Him
During The Bachelor live after show, Chris Harrison put out a request: Someone please find Season 1 Bachelor Alex Michel. Since the show's inaugural season in 2002, Alex has seemingly dropped off the map. The Bachelor host joked that the last time he'd been seen was in New York City, but that he didn't know much else. And, it seems like Michel prefers it that way. Since not proposing to and eventually breaking up with Season 1 winner Amanda Marsh, Michel has stayed out of the limelight. He doesn't have a Twitter or Instagram or even a Facebook, that I can tell.
New York Magazine reported in January 2016 that he "appears to be the head of strategy at Microsoft in London," according to his LinkedIn page. But, other than that, even the father of Bachelor Nation doesn't know what he's up to. In 2013, Harrison did an interview with Katie Couric and revealed he's lost touch with the OG Bachelor. "I know people have tried to get ahold of him, and we would have loved to have had him here today, but he's kind of gone on to live his life," Harrison said. "But, we do owe him a debt of gratitude; he kicked this whole thing off ... I don't blame him [for disappearing]; he's paid his dues."
And, three years later, Michel is still pretty much off the grid. As much as I'd love to know what he's up to (did he ever find love???), I kind of respect the level of secrecy he's maintained. In a day and age when nearly every Bachelor contestant is all over social media selling teeth whitening devices, I like that Michel is just doing his thing and not relying on Bachelor fame to propel his life forward.
That being said, if anyone can find Michel, it's Bachelor Nation. So, maybe we'll get an update on next week's Bachelor Live.
