Good News For 'Captain America' Fans

by Alanna Bennett

Was there really ever a doubt there'd be a Captain America 3? Sure, the second one hasn't even premiered yet, and sure, the third one hasn't been officially greenlit or announced by Marvel, but c'mon: There's gonna be a Captain America 3 . And, as Variety's Justin Kroll reported Tuesday, Captain America 3 is likely to have Anthony and Joe Russo in the director chair(s) — and that's a good sign.

Captain America: The Winter Solider comes out April 4 and hasn't been seen by mass audiences yet or even any critics, so there's not much we can say about its quality. What we can do is use our keen spidey-senses for some good old fashioned conjecture, and re-upping a director's deal after seeing the audience reaction from a few (reportedly well-received) test screenings seems like a sign that the movie's not gonna disappoint.

Anthony and Joe Russo were best known pre-Cap as big comedy dudes who served as executive producers on Community and Happy Endings — that was already impressive enough, of course, but it's also nice to see that they're making the transition to huge-budget superhero blockbusters so incredibly smoothly. So keep an eye out in April, and then again in 2015 or '16, when the third installment's likely to hit theaters.
