This 'Daily News' Cover Is Hilariously Anti-Trump

by Lauren Holter

Donald Trump confirmed his stance as the GOP's longtime frontrunner by winning the Republican New Hampshire primary on Tuesday. Trump beat out his biggest opponent in recent weeks, Ted Cruz — who took first place in the Iowa caucus last week and third in New Hampshire — by a whopping 23 percent. Like many Trump haters, The New York Daily News was furious about his victory, and published a scathing cover featuring the mogul as a clown.

Next to a terrifying image of a grinning Trump decked out in red and white clown makeup, the cover reads: "Dawn of the brain dead. Clown comes back to life with N.H. win as mindless zombies turn out in droves." If you weren't already scared of a President Trump leading the nation, this cover will certainly give you nightmares about a deranged clown Trump chasing you around.

Not only did the newspaper attack the GOP candidate, it also insulted every American who supports him, comparing them to the brainless, soulless living dead. It's no surprise that Trump's win upset those who vehemently oppose him, but The New York Daily News didn't hold back any of its disgust toward the divisive character. The image hit Twitter Tuesday night, meaning the publication had it ready to go in case the New Hampshire primary's results followed the polls predicting a Trump victory.

Obviously, the presidential hopeful wasn't too happy about this, and took to Twitter in true Trump fashion to bash The New York Daily News in multiple angry tweets. He attacked the paper's owner and publisher, tweeting Wednesday: "Dopey Mort Zuckerman, owner of the worthless @NYDailyNews, has a major inferiority complex. Paper will close soon!" Zuckerman has been cutting costs at the publication and unsuccessfully tried to sell the paper last year. According to The New York Post, he might try to sell again soon, but Trump predicted (or wished) that it will close before a buyer makes an offer.

Trump isn't the first GOP candidate to experience the newspaper's wrath. In January, it published a cover slamming Cruz for negatively commenting that Trump "embodies New York values." While the paper isn't a fan of Trump, it didn't enjoy Cruz saying that New York values are "socially liberal or pro-abortion or pro-gay marriage" and "focus around money and the media." With an image of the Statue of Liberty flipping Cruz off, the Jan. 15 cover read: "Drop dead, Ted. Hey, Cruz: You don't like N.Y. values? Go back to Canada!" The paper clearly has some top-notch Photoshop experts on staff.

Though overly aggressive, the covers are definitely entertaining. Note to self: Don't piss off The New York Daily News.
