One of country music's reigning queens is back on the red carpet tonight. Superstar Carrie Underwood's 2016 Grammys red carpet look is just as elegant, classic, and bold as the singer herself —with an unexpected twist. Underwood's hairstylist took a bold leap this year, and the star is pulling off the mod look with major grace.
Also, #praise for the fact Underwood is finally back on the Grammys red carpet! Even though she graciously accepted a Grammy award via Twitter last year for best country solo performance, it's obviously way more fun to not only celebrate Underwood's wins, but see the new look she's rocking. When she last hit the Grammys carpet in 2013, Underwood opted for a strapless semi-sheer black dress with a lot of detailed embroidery. She paired the sexy dress with a serious diamond necklace (like, that thing would probably pay for my apartment rent 20 times over), sweet curled hair, and a smoky eye.
As for this year, her black dress is sexy AF with a thigh high slit and shaped bodice, but her hair is totally what's stealing the show. Instead of Underwood's more signature curls, she opted for straight locks and a slicked back pouf with major volume. Whether it was Underwood's personal choice or her stylist's call, the celeb looks totally comfortable and poised with this new look.
I mean, can we stop and appreciate that confident swag?
Look at that thigh-high slit!
And a necessary up-close:
Slay, Carrie Underwood!
