Caitlyn Jenner Should Become Part Of 'Crime Story'

FX's The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story features lawyer and businessman Robert Kardashian (David Schwimmer) in 1994, a time when no one knew his famous last name — in last week's episode, a reporter even asked him to spell it. But the anthology TV series also shows Robert's ex-wife Kris Jenner (Selma Blair) and even a bit of the Kardashian kids, who would go on to become more famous than they could imagine. So, if the gang seems to all be here, will Caitlyn Jenner be portrayed on American Crime Story ?

There's been no official word from FX on whether Caitlyn — who was known as Bruce in 1994 — was cast or will appear in any capacity. There is no one listed as playing her on the American Crime Story IMDb page. If Caitlyn isn't ever seen in the miniseries, I'll be disappointed because she's a big part of the Kardashian-Jenner family, and already was back then. Kris and Robert divorced in 1991 and Kris married Caitlyn that same year, so they were already together at the time of the Simpson trial that the series focuses on. As viewers have seen in American Crime Story, Kris and Nicole were best friends. According to a 22-year-old throwback photo from People, the Kardashian-Jenner family used to vacation with another family: O.J. Simpson, Nicole Brown Simpson, and their children.

But, before the trial, O.J. Simpson reportedly had some opinions about Kris' new spouse at the time. In an interview with Radar Online, Simpson's former sports agent Mike Gilbert claimed, "O.J. always thought Bruce was weird and he never fit in ... O.J. hated Bruce." While this is a source that was possibly close to Simpson at the time, let's take a look at the context here: At the time, Jenner was the new spouse of Simpson's best friend's ex-wife. It'd make sense that Simpson would favor Robert Kardashian, who he had known and trusted for years.

Bur regardless of how Simpson may have felt about Jenner, I'm hoping Caitlyn makes a cameo on American Crime Story — even if it's just to pick up the Kardashian kids from school — to remind viewers that she was already a part of the family during this difficult time.
