The Celebrity Super Bowl Just Happened

In the Super Bowl spirit? The DirecTV Celebrity Beach Bowl JUST HAPPENED today! What better way to celebrate crazy fun, sports, and everything else that goes with that? (Uh, margaritas? Or is that just me?) The event, which features celebrities and all-star athletes playing touch football in an enormous sandpit — seriously, a million pounds of sand went into making this happen — is essentially the ultimate celebration of stars having a grand ol’ time. It teams up stars, and also pits them against one another (like husband and wife John Legend and Chrissy Teigen, who told E! Online that she planned to make the game “extremely touchy football.”)

The line-up was pretty great, too! It included Guy Fieri (in case you were craving some five-star fast food), Aaron Paul of Breaking Bad fame... bitch, Maria Menounos, Nina Dobrev, Shay Mitchell, Peter Facinelli, Tracy Morgan, James Marsden, and then a whole roster of football players too. How great is that? Sports and arts unite!

It all went down in Hudson River Park in NYC this afternoon, but folks could wait outside to get a glimpse of some of the action for free. The event was followed by a live performance by Paramore. Super Bowl spirit, indeed! I’m not one to usually be all SPORTS-SPORTS-SPORTS-SPORTS, but when you put a bunch of celebrities together, and have them play football in the sand, it’s pretty awesome.

Not to mention, look how much fun they were having, which is WHY WE LOVE THIS STUFF. Stars having fun in the sand, but not at the beach! YES.
