'Mad Max: Fury Road' Is Sweeping The Oscars

by Michelle McGahan

It was a big night for one film: Mad Max: Fury Road won six Oscars and is sweeping the award show. The fourth installment in the Mad Max action series has taken home golden statuettes for Best Costume Design, Best Production Design, Best Makeup & Hairstyling, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, and Best Film Editing — and Twitter has taken notice. It's slated to be the winningest film of the evening, according to the Wrap.

Even if The Revenant wins the rest of its nominations — including Best Picture, Best Actor, and Best Director — it still won't come close to the amount of awards Mad Max has received this evening, the site pointed out. The Australian film is sweeping (it's already beaten the previous Australian record of scoring three Oscars in one night, the Guardian reports), and everyone is responding with cheer and some good-natured humor. I mean, even Louis C.K. got in on the fun, jokingly announcing that Mad Max won Best Documentary Short.

Because the Internet is always on hand to react to everything and anything, fans immediately took to Twitter to share their responses to Mad Max: Fury Road sweeping the Academy Awards, and the jokes were legit.

Congrats on all of your Oscars, Mad Max: Fury Road! Keep on slayin'!
