11 Celebrities Whose Tattoos Have Mistakes

by Augusta Statz

While everyone has the best intentions of going in and getting a tattoo, it doesn’t always work out the way they’d like. Many celebrities have made the mistake of getting loved ones’ names tattooed on their bodies, only to break up. And they've also made some grammatical errors during the inking process. Check out eleven celebrities whose tattoos have mistakes. Unfortunately, whether it’s their fault or the tattoos artists’, they’re the ones who have to live with these — in a very public way.

I don’t happen to have any tattoos, but if I had one with a mistake in it, I think I’d get it fixed as soon as possible. But, many of these celebs have chosen to own their tats, mistakes and all, for better or for worse. And because they’re in the public eye so much, people have naturally taken notice of the issues with their ink.

Celebs from Rihanna to the latest Bachelor, Ben Higgins, have errors in their tattoos. Kudos to these stars for taking these permanent mistakes in stride. It’s just another way they can stand out from all of the rest, I suppose. Check out 11 A-Listers with incorrect tattoos because getting inked isn’t always as simple as you might think, even for celebrities.

1. Ben Higgins

Higgins has a Bible verse tattooed on his side. The lines of scripture are from Proverbs 16:3, but the tattoo artist accidentally put “Proverbs 16:34.” He later went back and had a cross added over the 4, but it’s still there under a little bit of extra ink.

2. Rihanna

According to Hollywood Life, the artist allegedly has not one, but two messed up tattoos. Now, that’s just some bad luck, isn’t it? She reportedly meant to have the words “rebellious flower” tattooed in French on her neck, and instead it reads, “flower rebel.” She also has the word “forgiveness” allegedly misspelled in Sanskirt on her side. Poor, RiRi.

3. Hayden Panettiere

Hollywood Life also reports that Panettiere allegedly has the words “live without regret” incorrectly spelled in Italian on her side. Oops!

4. David Beckham

This soccer player tried to pay tribute to his wife, but reportedly wound up with an “h” in her name in Sanskirt lettering, according to Style Bistro. But, hey, it’s the thought that counts, right?

5. Britney Spears

Also according to Style Bistro, Spears’ hip tattoo was reportedly supposed to read “mysterious” in Chinese characters, but apparently wound up reading “strange,” instead. Close, but not quite, Britney.

6. Ashley Greene

Greene’s “life’s a dance” foot tattoo is missing an apostrophe, which is a big deal for grammar nerds.

7. Johnny Depp

Depp’s tattoo used to read “Winona Forever,” but after the two split, he had it changed to “Wino Forever.” Good man.

8. Christina Aguilera

What were allegedly supposed to be her husband’s initials in Hebrew wound up being the number “12" on the inside of her arm. Considering the two are no longer married, this was really a blessing in disguise.

9. Jennifer Lawrence

According to Elle, Lawrence reportedly accidentally put the “2” in her “H2O” tattoo above the letters instead of below.

10. Kevin Durant

Durant’s got a massive back tattoo, but only one misspelling in the whole thing, thankfully. “Mature” appears to be written “mautre,” according to The Huffington Post. Hey, mixing up letters happens to everyone from time to time, right?

11. Coolio

Coolio reportedly claims to have misspelled “juggalo” on purpose for his ink, but why would he do that?

These eleven celebrities have all been tattooed, for better or for worse. And how they choose to handle these mistake-riddled markings, well, that's entirely up to them.
