Ariana Grande's 'SNL' Monologue Predicts Her Next Celeb Scandal -- In Song, Of Course — VIDEO
Ariana Grande is only 22 years old, and her age was the focus of her monologue when she hosted the March 12 episode of Saturday Night Live . She started off by talking about what it was like to be a child star on Nickelodeon. Of course, Kenan Thompson joined her to talk about being a Nickelodeon star, and how that pretty much shaped the way people think about him. "I've been on this show for 13 years," he said, "and people still ask me, 'Where's Kel?'"
The real meat of the monologue, though, was about what's coming next for her. Grande mentioned that she got her start as a child star but, now that she's in her twenties, she's ready for her first real adult celebrity scandal. You know, the kind that could take her career to the next level. And, of course, since it was an SNL monologue, she had to do it through song. IT was a jazzy, Old Hollywood-style number — not really what you'd expect from a Nickelodeon star — that ran through a bunch of possible scenarios for her big scandal. "Maybe I'll light up in first class and get kicked off a plane," she sang. "Or maybe I'll have a love child with Drake or 2Chainz."
At first, it seemed a little weird that Grande would be doing a song about shedding her child-star image. She isn't really that young, and I bet more people know her as an adult pop star than a Nickelodeon actress. But, I must say, it is a pretty charming number. She got a pretty big laugh out of me when she asked Pete Davidson if he wanted to smoke crack with her. And, from now on, I'll be on the lookout for her first big adult scandal.
