9 Time-Saving Weekend Beauty Tricks

by Erin Reimel

If you're like me, you have hardly any free time Monday through Friday, but your Saturdays and Sundays are wide open. I save weekends for pampering — doing all the beauty tricks that save me time during the week — so that I can get an extra hour of sleep on Monday morning. (It doesn't hurt that I feel like I'm at a luxurious spa in the comfort of my own bedroom, either.)

Indulging in weekend beauty routines means you're not rushing through them before or after work. Painting my nails is hard to do when I get home, for example, because the polish doesn't dry before bed (hello awkward sheet smudges). Instead, using your weekend night in to give yourself a gel manicure saves precious morning time. Or, if your hair gets oily, a clarifying shampoo that keeps buildup low for the week is great on Sunday nights. And if you hate shaving but want to remove hair, an epilator can cut down on everyday shaving time.

So why not give yourself a few spa treatments on your days off? Not only will you spend less time stressing during the week, but you'll enjoy every second of your weekend.

Nourish & Detoxify Skin With Mineral-Rich Mud

Borghese Fango Active Mud for Face and Body, $50, Amazon

Free your skin once a week from toxins and pollutants that clog pores using mineral-rich mud. It can be applied to your face and body for five to 10 minutes, which lets its sweet almond oil moisturize and exfoliate dead cells. This exfoliation encourages the cell turnover process, which makes for more refreshed skin with regular use. When you wake up with naturally brighter skin, you'll want your heavy, time-consuming makeup to take a hike.

Deep-Clean Hair With Indian Cress & Amino Acids

Molton Brown Indian Cress Purifying Shampoo, $30, Amazon

Instead of waking up to shower Monday morning, take time the night before to deep cleanse hair with the Molton Brown Indian Cress Purifying Shampoo. The shampoo is blended with Indian cress, which helps your hair grow out strong and healthy, while its amino acids work to increase shine. You won't want to get out of the shower on Sunday night because the aromas of jasmine, honeysuckle, and sandalwood smell so good.

Give Yourself A Two-Week Gel Manicure

Sally Hansen Salon Pro Gel Starter Kit, $40, Amazon

When your nails chip after a long day at work, the last thing you want to do is stay up fixing them. Instead, give yourself a gel manicure during the weekend with the Sally Hansen Salon Pro Gel Starter Kit. It comes with cleansing pads, a cuticle stick, and a buffer to prep your nails. Once they're ready to go, use the base coat, colored polish, top coat, and LED light for a manicure that looks like it's fresh from the salon. It lasts up to two weeks, so you won't have to do any mid-week touch ups.

A Salt Scrub with Monoi Oil Exfoliates & Locks In Moisture

ELEMIS Frangipani Monoi Salt Glow, $58, Amazon

If your skin tends to feel itchy or dry when you get up in the morning, you might have to spend a lot of time moisturuzing before getting dressed. Instead, pamper skin over the weekend with ELEMIS Frangipani Monoi Salt Glow, so your skin feels hydrated when you wake up. While the mineral-rich salts slough off dead skin cells, hibiscus and Tahitian monoi oil seal in much-needed moisture. Just rub the salt glow in circular motions in the shower, and enjoy a little less time applying lotion when you're running late.

An Under-Eye Mask With Collagen Decreases Puffiness

ProNu 24k Gold Collagen Eye Mask, $19, Amazon

When you're hanging out at home or watching a movie, give your eyes extra love with the ProNu 24k Gold Collagen Eye Mask. These under-eye masks have natural collagen, hyaluronic acid, and nourishing vitamins, which help them hydrate and plump up delicate skin cells while you relax. Users report noticing a real improvement in their dark circles and under-eye bags after using these.

Strengthen Hair Color With Mango Butter & Edelweiss

ORIBE Hair Care Masque for Beautiful Color, $62, Amazon

If you color your hair, you know how quickly it can fade. The ORIBE Hair Care Masque for Beautiful Color conditions hair with wild mango butter and keratin, while edelweiss flower extract and phyto-ceramides protect your color. Its watermelon extract also shields strands from UV damage, so this mask packs a lot of power into one product, allowing you to buy more time between weekday appointments.

Cut Down On Shave Time by Removing Hair From The Root

Philips Satinelle Epilator, $27, Amazon

Shaving takes up a lot of time and the effects don't last very long, which usually means touch-ups every few days. If you want to remove hair, try the Philips Satinelle Epilator, instead. This No. 1 best-seller works by pulling the hair from the root so your smooth skin lasts longer. It has two speeds (titled "gentle" and "efficient"), and a cap that's easy on sensitive skin.

Condition Lips Overnight with Shea Butter

C.O. Bigelow My Favorite Night Balm, $10, Amazon

If you love wearing lipstick but your lips are always flaky or dry, apply some of the C.O. Bigelow My Favorite Night Balm before you go to bed. Its shea butter formula will help you wake up to soft, hydrated lips. Users say just a small dab does the job effectively, and that the deliciously scented balm works long after it has worn off.

Extend Your Blowout With A Weather-Proofing Product

Living Proof Prime Style Extender Hair Primer, $14, Amazon
