Songs To Listen To When You Feel Lonely

There’s no shame in our game here, right friends? We have all been lonely, and we’ll likely be lonely again at some point. It’s just a fact of life. But that doesn’t mean it’s always an easy or pleasant thing to go through, for most of us. That said, there are definite helpful ways to cope. For instance, my most favorite coping mechanism for basically anything is music. This time is no different. So, I’ve decided to detail songs for loneliness, according to your zodiac sign. I honestly can’t think of a better way to assign music than by overarching personality traits.

Depending on your sign, situations affect you and songs appeal to you in different ways and should be treated so accordingly. It’s all about giving the person the right medicine for their ailment. Think of me as your music doctor, who is extremely uneducated in the medical field, but may know a thing or two in the musical one. Here are songs to play when you’re lonely, according to your zodiac sign.

Capricorn (December 23 — January 20)

"Why Georgia" is perfect for the introspective person that you know you are, Capricorn. I should know; I am one of you. This think piece from John Mayer is a perfect, mostly ambiguous way for you to channel your emotions. It's impossible to feel alone while listening to this.

Aquarius (January 21 — February 19)

Sometimes, loneliness can feel heavy. "Clean" by Taylor Swift is very literal in its name. After listening to this song, you do feel cleansed and lighter somehow. Besides, you guys are the water-bearers, and, with all this water imagery, it's like this song was made for you in your time of need.

Pisces (February 20 — March 20)

You probably can't go wrong with any song on Sam Smith's, In The Lonely Hour, in this sort of situation, but "Leave Your Lover" is Pisces gold. It'll appeal to your more sympathetic and compassionate side while catering to your sensitive side as well. Also, it's Sam Smith... he is catharsis.

Aries (March 21 — April 20)

Aries, the upbeat John Mayer tune, "Perfectly Lonely" is for you. Because you're impossibly upbeat, just like the song, and so, honestly, being lonely probably doesn't even bother you that much. To which I say good on you, Aries. Own your loneliness. Work it.

Taurus (April 21 — May 21)

You're a Taurus. Your sign is a bull. Just admit it— you're stubborn. Drake's "Hotline Bling" is for you cause, yeah, sure, you're missing someone, but you're not going to do anything about it. But, you might wallow a little. It's OK, you're allowed.

Gemini (May 22 — June 21)

Listen to Justin Bieber's "What Do U Mean?" when you're frustrated by a potentially halted or stagnant relationship due to mixed signals. Which probably drives you nuts and makes you feel alienated considering that, as a Gemini, you are almost always open and honest and willing to explain yourself.

Cancer (June 22 — July 22)

This is when you're feeling some type of way, Cancer. Little Mix's "Secret Love Song" featuring Jason DeRulo will pull all your angst strings, especially since you're emotional at your very core.

Leo (July 23 — August 21)

"Hello" is the song you listen to when lonely, because Adele's outrageously strong and powerful voice speaks to you, as lions and lionesses. Besides, Leos are passionate, and I am not sure there's anyone who sings more passionately than this songstress.

Virgo (August 22 — September 23)

Considering that the word "Virgo" is basically synonymous with "analytical," Ed Sheeran's, "One" is a great song for you to ruminate over in your loneliness. The lyrics are masterful, poignant, and contemplative — something you'd definitely appreciate.

Libra (September 24 — October 23)

Sara Bareilles's "She Used To Be Mine" is just enough melancholy and just enough optimism for you even keel yet still lonely peeps. Plus, it's just a gorgeous song, both lyrics and music-wise.

Scorpio (October 24 — November 22)

When you look for Scorpio trait descriptions, the words "secretive" and "mysterious" get thrown around quite a lot. Which makes Rihanna's "Stay" featuring Mikky Ekko the one you should listen to. There's a definite air of mystique to the song, but it also gets to the core of what it's like to be lonely.

Sagittarius (November 23 — December 22)

Being as optimistic as you are, Michael Buble's "Haven't Met You Yet" seems most appropriate in this situation. It's a decidedly cheerful way to handle your loneliness, because you have so much of your life ahead of you, anyway.
