Can You Still Use Face Oil In The Summer?

by Sienna Fantozzi

You may have gotten hooked on face oil while winter was ravaging your skin, but now that warmer weather is coming, you might be ready to step away from the oil — but hold up. Can you still use face oil in the summer? A beauty routine shake up isn't necessarily in order.

Seasonal skincare is totally real, and you need to give your skin different things depending on the weather. Since face oil is, well, oily, it's great for dry and cold conditions, but what happens come summer? When it's warm, sticky, and muggy out, your skin isn't as dry, and bonus, it's probably producing a whole lot of oil, so should you part ways with your oil until next winter? Actually, no.

Even though you think adding extra oil to your skin will only increase what's already there, applying a face oil can help reduce extra natural oil production. Because the skin feels hydrated, it won't produce as much oil to compensate, so it's a good idea to keep using face oil even if you feel oily — it may help decrease that!

In addition, face oils usually have plenty of antioxidants that prevent/protect against free radical damage, and with all the time you spend outdoors and in the sunshine during the summer, that is a necessity. Finally, even though it may be warm outside, you're going to be spending a lot of time inside in the air conditioning, and you know what that does? Dries your skin out! So if you think you're immune from dry skin in the summer, that isn't true, so keep oiling up.
