This 'GG' Set Photo Could Mean Big Things For Luke

by Emily Lackey

If you’re anything like me, you scour the Internet daily for further indication that the Gilmore Girls revival is going to be the best thing to happen in the world since Lorelai first discovered coffee. And usually there is something to pour my analytical mind into: a tweet, a new Instagram post, a promotional video that might reveal Dean’s marital status. But the thing that I look for more than anything else is some indication of whether or not Luke and Lorelai will be together in the revival. So when I saw this picture posted to Instagram of Luke’s truck covered in just the right amount of snow, I immediately started wondering if this was some semblance of proof that Luke would definitely be in the last episode. And, if he is, does this mean there might be an even bigger chance that Luke and Lorelai end up together?

Here’s what we know so far: The Gilmore Girls revival will consist of four episodes, each one named after the four seasons in a year. We know that the series will start with “Winter” and can only assume that “Spring,” “Summer,” and “Fall” will all follow in that order. It also seems like the show is being shot in chronological order, starting first with “Winter” and ending with “Fall,” because, lately, the pictures from the set have shown Stars Hollow decorated with harvest-themed regalia. But, in the last few days, the set has shifted to contain winter holiday-themed pieces and set decorations. (Remember: Most of the winter holiday season actually takes place during the fall, so it would make sense that some of the scenes from “Fall” would include Christmas decorations and light dustings of snow.)

So, when I saw this image of Luke’s truck covered in a thin layer of snow, I started wondering if that is because he is in the final episode. And, while this might not seem like that big of a deal on the surface — so what if he’s in the final episode? Luke’s in a lot of episodes without any real consequence — I think it’s worth mentioning that there might be a wedding in the final episode. And, if there is a wedding in the final episode, then it might just be a much bigger deal than any of the other episodes. As of now there hasn’t been any information on who is getting married in the revival if anyone actually is, but I can only imagine that if Luke is in the final episode that he will be playing a significant role in it.

And then there’s this little bit to chew on: The only time we’ve ever seen Luke’s truck has been on the rare occasion that he drove it around Stars Hollow (which was not often since he was usually serving up coffee at Luke’s Diner), when he moved Rory to Yale, and when he was parked in Lorelai’s driveway. But the times when audience were most likely to see Luke’s truck were the times when it would be sitting in Lorelai’s driveway.

I’m just going to let you sit with that information for a bit, because I think the fact that his truck is covered with snow is a pretty good indication that Luke will be in the final episode of the Gilmore Girls revival.

Whether or not this winterized truck spells romance for Luke and Lorelai is another question entirely, but this picture is enough information to make me believe that things are progressing between them in the revival. Then again, I’d be happy with any information that suggests the two are still together in the end, because Luke and Lorelai Forever.
