Fallon's 'Tonight Show' Guest List Is Epic

by Ivy Jacobson

Fear not, Jimmy Fallon fans. Even though Late Night with Jimmy Fallon ended on Friday, the new host of The Tonight Show will take over on Monday, Feb. 17 — and oh, what a week that will be. Jimmy Fallon's guest lineup for The Tonight Show 's first week was announced on Monday, and it is literally insane. These stars are huge and range from one legendary comedian to the FLOTUS — so we hope Fallon brings his A-game.

  • Monday, Feb. 17: Will Smith and musical guest U2.
  • Tuesday, Feb. 18: Jerry Seinfeld, Kristen Wiig and musical guest Lady Gaga.
  • Wednesday, Feb. 19: Bradley Cooper and musical guest Tim McGraw.
  • Thursday, Feb. 20: First Lady Michelle Obama, Will Ferrell and musical guest Arcade Fire.
  • Friday, Feb. 21: Justin Timberlake.

Hoooookay. Let's divide and conquer. This lineup is like starting college and taking graduate-level exams every day of the week, back-to-back. Not that we don't think Fallon can't handle it, but come on. Wouldn't interviewing Michelle Obama, Lady Gaga and Jerry Seinfeld all in one week on a new show make you break into a slightly sweaty panic?

This home-run list is full of serious stars and personalities, and all eyes will be on Fallon's ability to command his new spot, which could either make or break his first Tonight Show image. However, something tells me ratings will be through the roof because of the guests alone.

Will Smith is always totally nice, and U2 will probably be a BFD. But Bono might make him nervous because he always insists on wearing sunglasses indoors. Kristen Wiig, Bradley Cooper, Will Ferrell, and JT are buds of Fallon's, so that shouldn't be an issue. And by the way, of course JT is on. They've really become the Matt Damon/Ben Affleck bromance model for millennials.

Anyway, I'm sure Lady Gaga will be fine because she's usually a hoot on late night shows, but Jerry Seinfeld and Michelle Obama... those will be ones to watch, for sure. Interviews with one of the most beloved characters on TV and a notoriously picky comic coupled with the First Lady will either get him heralded as a legend, or will just make us want to give him a big hug. Sure, he's interviewed them both before, but this is a new stage with a whole new set of enormous expectations. That said, we have faith in you, Jimmy!
