Kim Kardashian Talks Kylie Jenner Rivalry Rumors
Unfortunately, because modern media likes to pit female celebrities against one another — particularly sisters — Kim Kardashian and her half-sister Kylie Jenner are often reported to be in some sort of alleged "feud" by tabloids and the like. It's difficult to miss the headlines — they're only present on every supermarket checkout stand known to man. However, thankfully, it seems these stories of a fight between the duo are just that, stories — and Kardashian wants the world to know it. In a post on her website Friday titled "My 'Rivalry' With Kylie," Kardashian addressed rumors of a rivalry with Jenner, saying:
Kylie and I laugh so hard at this all the time, because people always want to pit us against each other, thinking we have similar careers. I think it's amazing — there's no one else I would want to be in the same business with than my sister. She teaches me so much, and I teach her so much, and we're both so close that it's just funny. Sometimes I hear a rumor and I'm like, "Wait, is that true?! What's really going on? I need to call my sister." But with this one, that has never been the case. We just are so supportive of each other, and that's really what it is.
While the sisters' alleged rivalry has been the subject of many a tabloid cover for months now, a story published in March 2016 on Hollywoodlife.com may have been what prompted Kardashian to finally address the rumors: In it, an anonymous source told the gossip blog that Kardashian has allegedly been keeping tabs on Jenner since the launch of the 18-year-old's uber-successful Lip Kits line. The source claimed (according to Kardashian, falsely):
The latest lawsuit involving Kim’s failed beauty line has her upset and concerned. So much so that she recently visited Kylie’s lip kit factory to see how she is doing things and to get some tips from the younger sister. [...] Things have flipped for Kim and Kylie. The tables have turned and the student is now the teacher. [...] Kim recognizes how successful Kylie is becoming and she is taking clues from Kylie. It is not just in beauty but in social media too. Kylie was the first to jump on Snapchat and now Kim [is] following her lead.
Thankfully, Kardashian's post on her app seems to completely prove this "source" false — which is good to hear, because we need more stories indicating women supporting one another. There don't seem to be enough of those in the media, especially when it comes to the Kardashian-Jenner family.
Even better: Jenner also reiterated the same idea Kardashian did in her post on Friday a few months ago in a video entitled "Sister Love" on her own website and app. In her post, she said:
People always put me and Kim in a competition, or [they say] I'm trying to be Kim, or I'm trying to steal Kim's throne. I think people forget that me and Kim are sisters. We're not in a competition. We're completely different people. Kim inspires me. She's one of my biggest inspirations. That's not a secret! I look up to my sister. I don't think that's like, a weird thing? We have a lot of love for each other.
It's great to see that these sisters always seem to rise above any petty jealousy rumors perpetuated by the press. It's clear that regardless of their business endeavors, the Kardashian-Jenner clan have each others' backs — especially Kim and Kylie. #FamilyGoals, amirite?!
