This Is Your New Favorite Olympian
The man pictured above is your new favorite Olympian and it doesn't really matter what sport he plays. Gus Kenworthy rescued puppies from the streets of Sochi and plans to bring some of them home with him. It has been reported that Sochi has a huge number of stray dogs roaming the streets and that some were being killed as a solution to the problem, so Kenworthy saving puppies is a very honorable goal.
The best part of Kenworthy's story — okay, the best part is obviously the puppies being rescued, but the second best part is that he posted pictures of the very cute puppies online for everyone to enjoy. In one of the pictures, Kenworthy is literally covered in puppies and while it is sure to make you very jealous, it will mostly make you feel gracious that someone, who is busy with competing, is taking time to help out along the way.
Because it would be wrong to view the adorable puppy pics without paying the guy who saved them some respect, Kenworthy is a freeskier from Telluride, Colo. who competed in the slopestyle event earlier today. (This event has not yet aired in the U.S., so click here if you want to read a spoiler about his outcome.) According to the Team USA website, Kenworthy has a goal of winning medals in the X Games for all three skiing disciplines.
Okay, now for the puppies. The photographic journey of Kenworthy's puppy rescue started on Tuesday when he posted the following picture on his Twitter captioned, "Oh my glob, look who I just found! :) #sochistrays"
As if that wasn't good enough, he followed up with this picture captioned, "puppy love is real to puppies." Is that too sappy? No, because look!
Kenworthy followed up by tweeting, "Also, for the people wondering, I've lined up kennels 4 the pups & made vaccination appointments. Doing all I can to bring them home w/ me!"
If you want more pictures of the puppies, head over to Kenworthy's Facebook page. That's right, these puppies are on all forms of social media. On his Facebook, Kenworthy wrote, "Spent all afternoon playing with a gang of stray puppies here in Sochi! Looking into finding a way to bring them home with me but also don't want to take them away from their mama because she was being super cute and protective over them. I bought them some food and I'll go visit them again tomorrow :)." Now if that doesn't make you feel optimistic about the world, I don't know what will.
