This Is What It Means To Skin Blur

by Jessica Willingham

No filters needed, because the latest makeup trend can give you naturally gorgeous skin. Korean women are loving (and teaching us all) how to do skin blurring, a makeup technique that can help you ditch the photo filters to show off your own bright and healthy skin. But is this trend practical for every day?

Pores, fine lines, wrinkles, and skin texture happen to everyone. It could be a result of stress, diet, your cycle or just plain life. If you're feeling down about it, skin blurring can help create a #NoFilter complexion now and keep your skin feeling amazing in the future. Instead of blurring out high definition imperfections through an app, you can now do it through your foundation routine.

"Korean women are finding that in the age of HDTV and up close and personal high-res selfies, your flaws can be clearly seen," said Charlotte Cho, Korean beauty expert and co-founder of Soko Glam, according to Marie Claire. And although the idea of what makes for a "flaw" is totally subjective, blurring actually encourages us to ditch the apps that smooth out your face to the point of total flatness.

Cho continued to say, "So, it's better to 'blur' out your look a bit — using makeup and foundation to blur your blemishes, pores — but at the same time, keep it natural. It's not going to completely cover up that pimple, but it will hide it a bit, making you look bright and natural looking, but not flawless."

So what is it, exactly? Blurring is about keeping your skin as natural, dewy, and fresh as possible. This technique is about layering moisturizers and specialty products to reduce fine lines, wrinkles, texture and acne will help you achieve a youthful, blurred out look. Using blurring products to moisturize, prime, and hydrate before your foundation will help brighten your skin.
