Should You Attend Summer Sixteen Or OVO Fest?

by Jordana Lipsitz

It would seem that in Drake's mind, it takes two to run the world. Which may be why he announced his Summer Sixteen tour with Future and shortly thereafter announced the 7th Annual OVO Fest on his Instagram on Monday morning. Two shows is all quite exciting and whatnot but the whole message was a tad bit confusing, because it is Monday and it takes us all a little longer to process things anyway. And that's even without Drake posting an Instagram poster image that has both of the events written on it (confusing!). Drake's dropping festivals all willy nilly like some sort of festival fairy. It may almost seem like there is simply that the two events are combined. But this is not so. In fact, there are many differences between the OVO Fest and the Summer Sixteen Tour.

If you have recently found yourself in the money (as they say) recently, then by all means attend both events — and, uh, feel free to send a ticket or two my way as well. But for most of us, severe Drake fandom is not an option if we want to eat this summer or do anything else that is fun ever again. The following are a few differences between the shows that will determine which one you should attend (both).

1. The Main Acts Are Different

OVO Fest has a big focus on Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg, while Drake's tour will be primarily focused on Future and Drake. So OVO Fest is for the guy or gal who wants a quadruple dosing of rapper.

2. OVO Fest Is Only One Weekend

Ahhh, a weekend in Toronto. You can find the Summer Sixteen Tour in any major city and get some Drake/Future love, or the The High Road tour (Snoop Dogg and Wiz), but, for OVO Fest, you get a jam packed weekend of music with all four dudes.

3. Toronto

OVO Fest is Drake's love letter to the 6. Toronto is a entertainment and cultural hub, so Drake is bringing some much-needed attention to the city. Meanwhile, the Summer Sixteen Tour is just that, a tour, so it will be heading to all sorts of major cities for your viewing pleasure.

4. OVO Fest Is A Star-Studded Event

The OVO Fest has built a reputation on having an exciting roster of surprise guests. If you're hoping to get a glimpse of Yeezy, head to OVO Fest. If you don't want to be distracted from your Drake love, stick with Summer Sixteen.

No matter which you choose, the performances are bound to be amazing. Drake's performances rarely seem to disappoint, and we can assume any show he puts together will also be ah-mazing. Do one or do both, just do you.
