Urban Decay's New Lipstick Collection Is Huge

by Melodi Erdogan

Urban Decay has done what no makeup brand has ever done before. UD is getting rid of every single lipstick product in its range, only to replace them with a brand new collection. The new Vice lipsticks will feature redesigned packaging, new formulation, and a variety of different finishes. But, you may already be curious about the colors. How many shades of Urban Decay Vice lipstick will there be? Even though the brand is starting from scratch, there will be no shortage of lippies for makeup lovers to covet.

Drum roll please: the new Urban Decay Vice lipstick collection will feature 100 shades of lipstick. I can assure that is not a typo. If you need a moment to process this overwhelmingly delightful news, by all means take one! Because this is, in fact, real life.

Hyperventilation aside, this launch is pretty exciting. And just wait until you hear about the details. Because if you can believe it, it gets so much better.

The new Vice collection will be made up of the brand's existing lipstick shades (so if you had a favorite already, don't worry — it's not going anywhere) along with some returning limited-edition favorites (including the Mia Wallace Pulp Fiction shade, according to Refinery29) and a few other resurrected discontinued colors. Oh, and I can't forget to mention that there will also be 74 brand new, never-before-seen shades included in the launch as well.

Besides the wide range of colors, the new lipsticks will also feature an updated formula that's a conditioning butter blend rich in antioxidant vitamins C and E, with "a non-dragging application; long-lasting moisture; and softness thanks to aloe vera, avocado, babassu, and jojoba oils," according to Refinery 29. Plus, there are six different finishes. The options are endless.

The cherry on top is the brand new packaging. As Refinery29 points out, the brand has returning to its original shotgun shell shape, but with a modern update. There's no doubt this lipstick is going to look chic and sleek on your vanity, in your makeup bag, or even at the bottom of your purse.

The only bad thing about this launch is that there's still a whole month until it will be available to shop (sigh). The Vice collection, including the 100 lipsticks as well as 50 new lip pencils (can't forget about those, too!) is slated to launch on June 5 at UrbanDecay.com and at other UD retailers, including Sephora, Ulta Beauty, Macy's, and Beauty.com.

While the brand hasn't publicly announced why it completely got rid of its old lipsticks range and replaced it with a new one, there's no doubt this new launch is beyond exciting. Fans already spoke highly of the brand's lip products, so there's no doubt their new lippies will get a similar response. Plus, who can say no to a collection of 100 shades of lipstick?
