'Oldboy' Trailer Proves It Will Be Just As Violent As the Korean Original
Fans of the instant 2003 Korean classic Oldboy were appalled when news hit that Spike Lee would be remaking the film. Oldboy was so beloved a revenge film, it seemed wrong to encourage audiences to see an American version instead of the original. To boot, it's also so horrifying a film, that it seemed unlikely American audiences would fully embrace it.
But, based on the first trailer for the remake, starring Josh Brolin, Samuel L. Jackson, and Elizabeth Olsen, they'll have to. Because the spot for the film — about a man seeking revenge for being imprisoned for 20 years with no explanation — certainly doesn't skimp on the horror. Watch the trailer below... but only if you've finished your lunch.
The first scene teases the violence to come...
Get this motherfucking violence off my motherfucking screen!
Now, it can't possibly get any worse than this, right?
