Prepare To Weep At This Dad & Baby Dance Class
Gird your loins for maximum cute: The only thing that could make this video of a dad and baby dance class any more adorable would the addition of puppies and tiny frolicking ponies (or puppies dancing on top of tiny ponies? How do I make this happen?). If the sight of these happy dads getting down with their bad selves, with doughy cheeked, snorgable babies strapped to their chests, doesn’t put a smile on your face, well… I think you’re probably the Terminator. Please don’t report me to Skynet.
This video comes courtesy of GroovaRoo Dance, a San Diego-based company that offers babywearing dance classes to new moms and dads. GroovaRoo started when husband and wife team Amber and Meeshi Anjali decided to combine their interests: Amber is a birth doula and postnatal yoga instructor, and Meeshi teaches dance. At GroovaRoo classes, moms and dads learn line dances choreographed so that they can dance safely with their babies in carriers on their chests. It’s an opportunity for new parents to exercise, bond with their babies, and meet other parents. “There aren't a lot of activities where moms can feel comfortable bringing their babies and getting a workout,” Amber told TODAY Parents. “They come for the exercise, but then through the process, they find a community.”
The Anjalis have previously posted videos of moms dancing with their babies, but the latest features the students of GroovaRoo’s “Mommy Mingle, Daddy Dance” class, proud papas getting groovy to Wild Cherry’s “Play That Funky Music.” In a Facebook post, the Anjalis explain, “For a bunch of dads that claim they don't dance, they were ‘dancin’ and singin’ and movin’ to groove’ just to show these mamas how much they appreciate them. And that's the greatest love of all!
Let’s take a look at some of these guys’ amazing dance moves:
They raise the roof.
They try out The Lasso.
Two words: BABY GUITAR.
(Check out that high kick!)
At the end, the moms join in for an adorable family dance party:
