Pharrell's Hat Is Going to a New, Happy Home

by Lindsay Mannering

If you were hoping to see a petite man wear a giant hat on the Oscars red carpet, which is just about a week away, mind you, then too. bad. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Pharrell Williams is auctioning off his iconic hat. The Vivienne Westwood Buffalo Hat that the singer wore to the 2014 Grammys was put up on eBay late Thursday night and the "Happy" hit-maker released a statement explaining why he's chosen to separate from the infamous behemoth head piece.

I'm giving up the Buffalo Hat I wore to the Grammys to help underserved kids get the educational tools they need. Our organization, From One Hand to Another, is committed to bringing kids experiences that ignite their passions, challenge their minds and prepare them for success.

As of now there are only a few hours left to place your bid, so if you have a cool $10,500 burning a hole in your pocket and a desire to be instantly identified as that-dude-wearing-Pharrell's-old-hat, don't waste any more time. Now's your moment to both donate to a worthy cause and to up your sartorial hat game.

For those of you not interested in purchasing a gigantic (literally, not allegorically) piece of 2014 fashion history, there's still reason to care: Now that Pharrell's hat will have a new owner, do we think that they'll take over the hat's Twitter account? Because hey, it's pretty safe to say that we're all fully invested in this Yosemite Sam urban sombrero, so it's only fair we get frequent updates on its new home.
