Kim K Used A Food Item To Dye Her Cannes Dress

People use tea for a lot of things — to drink, get a healthy fake tan, to get a boost of energy — but this A-lister has a very unique way of utilizing the beverage. According to a post from her site, Kim Kardashian used Earl Grey tea bags to dye her Cannes dress. I know what you're probably thinking, but she did it for a totally sane reason.

Do you remember the bright silver and nude mesh dress that Kardashian wore just a few weeks ago to Cannes? Well, it looks like it got a little last minute alteration before she stepped onto the red carpet. In a recent blog post, Kardashian explained that she darkened the color of the mesh to better fit her skin tone with tea bags.

“For the De Grisogono red carpet in Cannes, I wore a custom Lan Yu Couture dress," Kardashian says on her blog. "We had to try to darken the nude mesh dress under the silver layer, because it was too light to match my skin tone. We had just two hours before we left for Cannes, so we put Earl Grey tea bags in a sink and put the dress in for about 30 minutes to dye it."

I never would have guessed that it was black tea to the rescue! It really is a genius plan, but Kardashian admits that it was a little hectic behind the scenes.

“It took right up until the red carpet for it to dry!!! We had to blow-dry it right before I put it on and it was still a little damp — but it worked and it made the mesh a better match to my skin tone," Kardashian says on her blog. "Such a trick of the trade!”

Say what you will about the star, but she definitely knows how to work with what she's got.
