Rives Island's Plus Size Collection Is Affordable

British brand River Island pleased the plus size world after releasing its first plus size collection in March 2016, and now the brand is back at it again with the River Island plus size summer 2016 collection: A line featuring bright colors and fun, fashionable prints at actually affordable prices. Available in American sizes 14 to 20, as The Curvy Fashionista reported, this collection might not be as size inclusive as we likely expect from stateside brands. But as a resident British person, it still feels like a big step forward for the UK fast fashion market.

Starting at only $12 for basic tank tops and about $36 for summer-specific pieces like swimsuits, the entire collection's prices peak at $130. And that's for a truly gorgeous plus size trench coat, which is a must-have for any summer wardrobe in a place where summer maxes out at 70 degrees.

It's not especially shocking that retail giant River Island, which has previously collaborated with Rihanna, would release such an awesome and stylish plus size line. But regardless, these items will likely be exciting for anybody still purchasing their summer wardrobe. Ranging from staple items to statement pieces, a plus size gal could get her entire summer wardrobe straight from River Island and look fly for the entire season.

Personally, I think the new collection by River Island — called "RI Plus" — will help the well-known British brand break into the U.S. market in a big way. Although the American plus size industry is bigger than ever, there's still something to be said about sourcing your clothing from overseas. After all, your plus size friends have probably found the best items from Lane Bryant and Torrid already, but not everyone will have shopped the RI Plus summer collection.
