Medical Marijuana Now Officially Kosher

Well, this is good news for most of us.

Orthodox Rabbi Efraim Zalmanovich has issued a ruling that medical marijuana is now officially kosher.

“Taking drugs to escape this world in any excessive way is certainly forbidden,” Zalmanovich said. “However, if the drug is administered to relieve pain, then the person giving it is performing a mitzvah.”

Yup, that's right, it's a mitzvah. As in, a good deed. Also, note the "excessive" clause here—I'm guessing it might have something to do with the fact that many Jewish holidays actually require you get drunk.
