Justin Long's Next Big Move is 'Sober'ing

by Alanna Bennett

New Girl guest star no more: Justin Long is Fox's newest star, courtesy of comedy pilot Sober Companion. The show's also making the pre-emptive jump from multi-camera sitcom to single-camera. Both seem like good decisions on the network part, but let's focus on Long, because...well, mainly because he's got a good face.

Produced by CBS studios but to air on Fox, Sober Companion , according to Deadline, "centers on a charming, but self-destructive attorney finds his world turned upside down when a court-appointed, and highly unconventional, sober companion takes control of his life." Long will be playing the title character, who is apparently "perennially upbeat [and] maddeningly eccentric."

Long had a memorable arc on the first season of New Girl, as well as a more recent arc on CBS' multi-cam Mom. You may also remember him from the mid-/late aughts, because for a while he was in all the movies ever. Dodgeball, Admission, He's Just Not That Into You, etc. It was a lot, so it's understandable that Fox seems pretty psyched to have this once-big movie star on their team.

He will also be appearing in the upcoming Veronica Mars movie, to which I say yay.
