Zachary Quinto Nailed His Performance Of Missy Elliott's "Get Ur Freak On" On 'Lip Sync Battle,' But Was It Enough To Get Him The Win?
Zachary Quinto faced off against Zoe Saldana on Thursday night's special 1-hour Lip Sync Battle. As Spock and Uhura, Quinto and Saldana might play lovers in their upcoming movie Star Trek: Beyond, but on the Lip Sync Battle stage, they were not playing around. Both actors made their competitive natures clear. "You're gonna kiss my ass after we're done," Saldana teased at the top of the show. It was a close battle, mostly due to the fact that Quinto nailed his performance of Missy Elliott's "Get Ur Freak On" on Lip Sync Battle .
For his first song, Quinto channeled George Michael, performing "Freedom '90" — leather jacket, cross earring and all. Oh, and did I mention Cindy Crawford also appeared topless in a bathtub for the performance? In a surprising celebrity cameo, Crawford came out on stage and sang along to the track. The supermodel appeared in the original video 25 years ago, and she later said that she couldn't believe she was revisiting the video so many years later. As for Quinto, well, he called the experience of working with Crawford "literally like a dream come true."
In his second performance, Quinto went all out, choosing to lip sync to Missy Elliott's "Get Ur Freak On." Donning a bedazzled jean ensemble almost identical to the one Missy Elliot wore in her video, Quinto performed a dance routine inspired by the video and even ended the elaborate performance hanging from a chandelier.
Quinto's second performance closed the show, but it wasn't enough to win him the Lip Sync Battle championship belt. In the end, Saldana's performances, which included a guest appearance by none other than TLC, won over the crowd, and she went home with the win.
