Check Out Toms Latest Collaboration

by Erin Mayer

The socially conscious retailer Toms has collaborated with designer Jonathan Adler on a line of accessories. Adler, best known for his colorful prints and high-profile relationship with Simon Doonan, has designed a line of shoes and sunglasses for Toms.

As you might know, Toms was founded in 2006 by Blake Mycoskie, whose One For One project provides a pair of shoes to a needy child for each pair purchased from the company. Adler's the latest in a long line of collabs that have included The Row and Tabitha Simmons. These collaborations are a smart step for a brand like Toms since they introduce the shoes to a more fashion-y audience.

Adler's eccentric retro aesthetic doesn't translate brilliantly to the realm of ultra-casual footwear. He tried his hand at the classic slip-on style as well as a sandal and three pairs of sunglasses. The sunglasses are understated and work quite nicely. The shoes, however, are kind of... loud. There are zig-zag patterns, geometric squiggles, and a whole lot of color. Each pair retails at $59, so they won't break the bank. While it's certainly a great way to get Adler for less, his charming housewares seem a lot more appealing.
