How To Hide Bug Bites With Makeup
The only thing worse than humidity in the summer is mosquitoes and mosquito bites. Chances are, you've probably had a bite in a less-than-ideal place once or twice before (think: cheek or neck). But, if you have an event coming up or a big date night, it might be helpful to know how to hide those nasty bug bites with makeup.
It's important to remember that just like a pimple, concealing a bug bite requires a two-prong attack. First, calm the inflammation and second, cover up the remainder of the wound with concealer, mineral makeup or foundation. The first step will help you minimize the bump and the redness and the second step... is self-explanatory.
Obviously, it's best to leave it alone until it heals on its own a little bit, but if you need to cover it right away, proceed with caution. New York City makeup artist Lauren Consent told Women's Health Magazine that once the bite has dried out and is no longer super swollen, that's your green light you are OK to conceal with product.
Cosmopolitan points out that it's best to choose a yellow-based concealer, as those are most effective when it comes to hiding redness. To help you get started, I looked into a few products that will help you bring down that bump and ultimately — hide it!
Here's what you'll need:
1. Concealer
Boo Boo Cover Up
Boo Boo Cover Up Concealer, $20, Amazon
Both Cosmo and Allure recommend this one. And if the bite is on your body, it's the perfect product!
Glossier Stretch Concealer
Glossier Stretch Concealer, $18, Glossier
This handy concealer comes in the perfect shade for every skin tone and it moves with your skin. The last thing you need on a pimple or bug bite is cake looking makeup and this is anything but that.
2. Anti-Inflammatory Cream
AfterBite
AfterBite The Itch Eraser, $7, Amazon
If you haven't tried this stuff, you should ASAP. Not only does it minimize itch, but it also helps to dry out the bite.
Off!
Off! Bite And Itch Relief Pen, $7, Amazon
Just like after bite, this is another great choice for erasing the itch.
Hope this helps. Good luck!
