Chelsea Clinton Reveals Her Second Baby's Name

by Morgan Brinlee

Presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton is officially a grandma, again. Chelsea Clinton gave birth to a baby boy whom she named Aidan Clinton Mezvinsky, the former first daughter announced over social media Saturday.

Aidan is Clinton's second child with husband Marc Mezvinsky. The couple welcomed their daughter, Charlotte, in 2014. In a tweet touting the news, Clinton said she and Mevinsky "are overwhelmed with gratitude and love as we celebrate the birth of our son."

As she did with her daughter, Clinton sought to infuse her son's name with a bit of her own family legacy by including her own maiden name in the tot's. Clinton and her husband (whose family has a political legacy of their own) waited until the birth to find out the sex of their second child so it's unclear if they'd decided on the name Aidan beforehand.

Clinton's parents, presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton, welcomed the news with joy. "We are overjoyed to be grandparents again with the arrival of our grandson," CNN reports they said in a statement. "We are all over the moon as Chelsea and Marc welcome Charlotte's little brother to the world and grateful for our many blessings. Chelsea and Aidan are both doing well and enjoying this very special time together."

In a December 2015 Facebook post announcing her second pregnancy, Clinton said she and her husband were "feeling particularly blessed and grateful this holiday season" after finding out about the pregnancy. "Being Charlotte’s parents has been the most joyous, meaningful and loving experience of our lives and we are very excited about growing our family in the new year," she wrote.

Hillary has talked repeatedly about granddaughter Charlotte on the campaign trail, likening being a grandmother to "falling in love all over again." Just prior to Aidan's birth, the presumptive Democratic nominee had recently hinted she might be taking a few days off from campaigning to get to know her future grandchild. "We're going to have another grandchild sometime early this summer," ABC News reported Hillary as saying at a campaign event earlier this month, "And I want to be able to look at them just like I want to be able to look at every one of the children here and every child across this country and say the promise of America is live and well."
