Katherine Heigl Has Very Exciting News

by Allyson Koerner

The Heigl/Kelley family will soon be expanding. Katherine Heigl is pregnant, the former Grey's Anatomy actor revealed to People. This will be the third child for Heigl and her husband, singer Josh Kelley. They are already proud parents to their two daughters, 7-year-old Naleigh and 4-year-old Adelaide. This time around, they won't be welcoming a girl, but a boy sometime in January. The couple released a statement to People, where you can tell just how thrilled they are about their impending addition.

"The Kelley clan is thrilled to announce that we are expecting a third addition to our family," they said. "Naleigh and Adelaide could not be more excited to welcome their new sibling into the fold and Josh and I are overflowing with joy and gratitude."

It's clear Heigl is over the moon, because she couldn't help but joke during her announcement. "This is an incredibly exciting time for us filled with hope, anticipation, and hormones," she said. "Well, only I’m filled with hormones, but everyone in the family gets to enjoy them." All jokes aside, she really couldn't be happier, as she concluded, "We couldn’t be more excited to be able to finally share this news with our fans and are looking forward to continuing to share the journey with you all."

Even though this is the Doubt star's third child, it's her first pregnancy. Heigl and Kelley adopted Naleigh and Adelaide. In 2009, they adopted Naleigh from South Korea. Then, in 2012, they adopted Adelaide domestically. Adoption is something near and dear to Heigl's heart, as her sister, Margaret, was adopted.

In 2012, the actor opened up to Parent & Child about adoption and how it's always been part of her and Kelley's plan. She said,

Josh and I started talking about it before we were even engaged. My sister Meg is Korean, and my parents adopted her three years before I was born. I wanted my own family to resemble the one I came from, so I always knew I wanted to adopt from Korea. We have talked about having biological children as well, but we decided to adopt first. I just wanted to be a mom. So however we do that, it’s fine with me.

She definitely seems like a great mom and has a beautiful family. Congrats to both Heigl and Kelley on their happy news!
