Jessica Williams' 'Daily Show' Departure Is Soon
As I am sure you may have heard, Jessica Williams is leaving The Daily Show . *Clutches heart* Yes, leaving, like for real. Though I can't imagine this means she's never coming back — that's what guest appearances are for, of course — for now at least, she's dunzo. Williams wrote this in her Instagram post announcing her departure, saying, "Thank you for having me. It's been (sur)real. Sad to leave the show & all lubed up for what's next. #eatcraylove #dailyshow #throwback." I mean, "sad" doesn't even begin to describe the emotions I'm feeling, but I get the sentiment. Taking all of this into consideration, it's crucial to wonder: when is Jessica Williams leaving The Daily Show , exactly?
It's understandable to want to prepare for such a monumental loss, so I get your questioning. The thing is, you won't have much time to get ready to bid Williams farewell. Like, any time at all, actually. According to Entertainment Weekly, Williams is leaving The Daily Show on Thursday, June 30th. So soon! But wait: They also explain that us fans shouldn't feel too bad about the short notice, though relaying, "While the decision to leave may seem sudden — she only started telling her coworkers this past Tuesday." Technically, we're only one day behind the people on the inside. Which, in a weird way, makes me feel better about the whole thing.
I know what you're thinking — where the heck is the silver lining in all of this? Don't worry, it's here. While Williams is leaving The Daily Show Thursday, she's not leaving TV altogether. In fact, she's going to reemerge on your screens sooner rather than later! Entertainment Weekly reports that the Williams is leaving to the show in order to star, write, and produce a pilot for Comedy Central that hasn't been named yet. Williams described the show synopsis to the publication as this, "It’s a show about someone in their 20s who has all these social ideas but still, like, does not have it together. And she’s goofy and silly and funny!" I know I'll definitely be tuning in. You know, once I get over her leaving me — uh, I mean, leaving The Daily Show.
ILY, Jessica!
