The Frozen Parody You've Been Waiting For

by Alanna Bennett

Recent events in the incredibly vast fandom surrounding Disney's Frozen include but are not limited to: Oscar glory, composer Robert Lopez EGOTing, John Travolta messing up Idina Menzel's name at the Oscars, a lot of people then feeling guilty for making fun of the flub because John Travolta's been rumored as having dyslexia, Idina Menzel singing "Let It Go" with Jimmy Fallon, Frozen hitting the billion dollar mark at the box office, Idina Menzel just generally reminding the world why we've all been so obsessed with her since Rent — the list goes on. It's been a good year for Frozen, basically.

As usual, powerful publicity yields hilarious parody. The best recent one is quite possibly Rob Manion's "Times That It Is Not Okay To Sing 'Let It Go.'"

We won't go into the full glory of the video, but let's just say we feel obligated to include some modern spoiler culture spoiler warnings for Doctor Who, Gravity, The Dark Knight, The Never-Ending Story, and a certain animated lion musical that made you cry when you were a kid, as well as a few other assorted choices. It made me snorfle (that's the even uglier version of snorting as it mates with ill-timed cackling as it mixes with the tears of your childhood), which I think is the point, but I still feel guilty, and also like I should rewatch The Lion King.
