Three police officers in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, were killed in the line of duty Sunday morning, one of whom was a former Marine and a father of two. Matthew Gerald, a Baton Rouge police officer who was killed was a married father of two young daughters, and he was no stranger to service.

According to reporting from WAFB 9, Gerald was originally from Denham Springs, Louisiana, a small town of just over 10,000 inhabitants just east of Baton Rouge.
