Donald Trump Wants 'Law & Order'
During his nomination acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention, Donald Trump said many nonsensical things. But amid confusing points about "open borders" and Iranian assets, one thing became crystal clear: that The Donald totally digs the long-running NBC cop drama Law & Order. These "law and order" memes prove Trump is a really big TV fan.
There's a lot of reasons Trump might be into Law & Order. It's set in his hometown of New York City, for one thing. In the 25 years since the show premiered, many, many babes have crossed our screens on the original show and its' varying spin-offs, most definitely including Mariska Hargitay and Chris Meloni on Law & Order: SVU. As far as prime-time TV goes, you really don't get much better than a bunch of heroic but flawed crime-fighting NYPD detectives, all of whom Trump has wholeheartedly embraced in his acceptance speech.
This isn't the first time we've heard about Trump's love of the famous NBC drama. Last week was the first time Trump called himself the "Law & Order" candidate, choosing to eschew his former Islamophobia and anti-Latino bigotry in favor of aligning himself with a show that literally everyone loves.
While we wait on Richard Belzer and Chris Noth's endorsements, here's some reactions from Twitter about Trump's interesting new platform:
Because Trump Is Basically Elliot Stabler Swinging On A Pole
The resemblance is uncanny.
Or Is He Angry Benson?
This does seem a little more up Trump's alley.
Detective Tutuola Doesn't Really Get It
Don't worry Tutuola, I don't either.
He Didn't Specify Which Series!
Is it the original, SVU, Criminal Intent, the lone wolf candidate Trial By Jury, or, god forbid, LA?
But He Was Probably Referring to SVU, Right?
There are a lot of reruns, though.
More Plagiarism?
Looks like Ice-T's not on board.
It Affects More Than Just His Platform
This is gonna take some serious logistical changes.
But Bringing The Original Back Is So Worth It
These Are His Stories
Dun Dun!
