The One Teen Choice Awards Outfit You Need To See

by Gina Jones 2

If any celebrity perfectly encapsulated early '00s style, it has to be Paris Hilton. So it's no wonder that Hilton's red carpet look is the number one Teen Choice Awards outfit ever — one that you just have to see. Picture this in your head: It's 2003, it's the Teen Choice Awards, and celebrities are turning up in their typical early naughties outfits. Paris Hilton has arrived and, shockingly — like genuinely shockingly — she isn't wearing pink or glitter.

In every other aspect, however, this Teen Choice Awards outfit was the ultimate in new millennium wares. It was the kind of look that almost every teen girl wished they could rock every day. The lucky ones among us at least owned one dress like this. Hilton, of course, perfectly accessorized it with oversized brown glasses — Anastacia style — a matching bag, and the best silver strappy sandals the world has ever known.

The torn hemline and bright blue and orange contrasting colors are the ultimate in trashy '00s style: The kind of style that couldn't actually be called "stylish," but that definitely had its own unique sense of appeal. It's an aesthetic that Hilton was all about during this decade, and one that is still rocked by the reality TV star to this day.

The orange and blue mix may have been a very shrewd style decision by the heiress, considering how perfectly it matched with the Teen Choice Awards set and blue carpet. It's almost as though Hilton made the carpet itself her accessory, which is, all things considered, the most baller sartorial move I have ever witnessed in my life.

If you ask me, this whole look is a great example as to why Hilton was and always will be such an icon. She made everything about herself, and she entirely deserved to do so.

The tie-dye effect on this dress was also suitably '90s enough to feel like a throwback during the time immediately after the decade. All in all, every aspect of Hilton's ensemble was clearly thought out in excruciating detail and executed to perfection.

Although style at this time was undoubtedly grotesque in many ways, there's something about Hilton that made early '00s aesthetics seem desirable and entirely worthy of our attention. As proven in this look and, well, in every single Paris Hilton look ever, this business mogul and part-time DJ/singer/actor totally owned the new millennium.
