Josh Groban & Kat Dennings Reportedly Break Up

by Michelle McGahan

Summer 2016 is officially the season for celeb breakups. Joining a list that includes Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris, Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama, and Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney — just to name a few — it looks like Josh Groban and Kat Dennings have ended their relationship after two years together, E! News reports. The surprising split is one that will upset fans for sure, especially those who follow the stars on Twitter: For years, Groban and Dennings constantly tweeted each other the cutest things, and now, my friends, true love is dead.

According to an E! source, "it was a mutual breakup," which is better than it being devastating for either party but still pretty difficult nonetheless. Still, the insider claims: "They are still friends and care about each other, but it's not the right time for them now as a couple." While there's a sense of open-endedness here (the comment about timing makes it seem like there could be a future reconciliation), for right now, it seems as if it's over for the crooner and 2 Broke Girls star, who made their public debut as a couple at a charity event in October 2014.

Seriously, I'm bummed about this one: The two shared not only a mutual love and respect for one another (which was evident any time either party talked about the other), but also the same quirky sense of humor — frequently on display for their Twitter following to see and inevitably gush over. No, really. It really was that cute.

Take, for example, any time Groban couldn't get enough of his girlfriend:

And when she couldn't get enough of him:

Or when Dennings just wanted to be a part of the Josh Groban/Chrissy Teigen ramen party:

When #glitterbeards were a thing and Dennings and Groban were on trend:

And literally this entire mess of adorable tweets that just showcases their impeccable relationship:

"Friends" can still tweet sweet nothings, right? *sobs into corner*
