Beyoncé Hits The VMAs Carpet Without Jay Z

by Lia Beck

The MTV Video Music Awards are amongst us once again. While the actual award show doesn't kick off until 9 p.m., the network is live streaming the red carpet arrivals online, and one of the biggest stars of the night has already made her grand entrance. Beyoncé arrived to the VMAs with her daughter, Blue Ivy, and a number of women and girls from her visual album, Lemonade. Notably missing though was her husband, which begs the question: Is Jay Z even at the 2016 VMAs?

At this point, it's hard to know for sure. Neither Beyoncé nor Jay Z have posted anything VMAs related on their social media, which is not exactly surprising considering they rarely use social media anyway. Since Beyoncé's many nominations are all from Lemonade, which, as we all know, is very women-focused, it's clear that she wanted to show up with some of the inspiring women from the film and share her big red carpet moment with them. It just makes sense to not walk the carpet with Jay Z.

As for whether he's at the show at all, we'll have to wait and see. Perhaps he went in through a back entrance, so he could still watch his wife perform during the show. Personally, I'm hoping he did, because I need him and Blue Ivy to recreate this moment from the 2014 VMAs:

Classic.
