Twitter Reacts To The End Of Hiddleswift

by Caitlin Flynn

In a turn of events that isn't exactly shocking, on Tuesday afternoon, Us Weekly reported that Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston have split up after three months together. According to the outlet, Swift initiated the breakup because she was more hesitant than Hiddleston to go public about their relationship, which has been the source of endless speculation since rumors of the their romance began circulating three months ago. A source claimed to the outlet that, "Tom wanted the relationship to be more public than she was comfortable with. Taylor knew the backlash that comes with public displays of affection but Tom didn't listen to her concerns when she brought them up." So, what's the overall reaction to this news? If social media is any indication, Twitter users totally did not take Swift and Hiddleston's relationship seriously and the hashtag #hiddleswiftisover has already taken off.

Bustle has reached out to reps for Hiddleston and Swift regarding the report. Hiddleston's rep said that he does not comment on his client's personal life; Swift's rep has yet to give a response.

Although exact reactions rum the gamut, some people definitely think #Hiddleswift was a PR stunt from day one, and others are simply using it as an opportunity to find some quality gifs to accompany their tweets about the news. One thing is consistent — there aren't too many people out there fretting that "love is dead" or despairing about the fact that the romance is over before it started.
