Miss America 2017's Gown Was A Fancy LBD

There she is... Miss America! Congrats are most certainly in order. Savvy Shields, Miss Arkansas, has been crowned Miss America 2017. So let's pause and offer a round of applause and a standing ovation to the lovely and talented Miss Shields for nabbing the Miss America honor. Shields' coronation gown was essentially a simple but stunning LBD. It was certainly an appropriate, chic, and timeless frock for the woman selected to represent the United States on the pageant level for the next year.

While you may hold fast to the belief that pageants and gowns are outmoded, outdated, and out of style, as a concept, Shields is proof of exactly the opposite. She opted for a mostly straight silhouette with a fishtail bottom and a sweetheart neckline. Shields' black column dress had a mermaid flare at the knee, yet it was anything but basic. Her look was topped by her mane of thick, golden waves.

Shields also skipped a statement necklace, even though her sweetheart neckline would have allowed for a high impact baubles. It's almost as though she left her neck bare because she instinctively knew that she would be wearing an even better accessory at the end of the night — the Miss America crown!

Shields' dress was classic and lovely. It was accentuated by drop earrings... until the crown was placed atop her head.

BTW, in case you were curious! All of the eliminated contestants were dressed in white Sherri Hill gowns. Sherri Hill is the official gown sponsor of Miss America. Now you know!

Congrats Savvy Shields. You have a cool name and wore a gorge dress.
