Aly Raisman Supports Laurie Hernandez On 'DWTS'

by Caitlyn Callegari

After the Olympics ended and the talk show appearances died down, I'll admit, I was a bit afraid that the endearing friendship between the Final Five would dissipate. I didn't think they'd stop being friends altogether necessarily, but I did have it in the back of my mind that they'd drift apart from one another once they all went back to their respective home states. I went away to college; I watched these sorts of things happen firsthand. But, I am happy to report that I was dead wrong about these particular gold medalist BFFs. Case in point, Aly Raisman went to Dancing With the Stars to watch Laurie Hernandez perform on Monday night.

Let's all give a collective "Aww," shall we? Because my gymnastics-loving heart can hardly contain itself. Raisman and Hernandez even posed for a photo together with Hernandez's partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, all decked out in dresses rather than their signature leotards and patriotic gear. Somehow, it made it even more special to see them being friends outside of their scheduled professional obligations.

Raisman \ had nothing but sweet things to say about her pal and her performance, writing on Instagram and Twitter, "Go @lzhernandez02 & @iamvalc best of the night, no surprise #DWTS @dancingabc," with a blushing smiley face emoji and a trophy one, as well.

While this gives all of us Final Five fans a boost, it's really no wonder that Raisman and Hernandez, along with the rest of the women, keep in touch. They went through a relatively quick but definitely transitional and life changing time together, and I'm sure they've forged a lifelong bond that they aren't going to let go of that easily. Besides, as if "Mama Aly" would let any of the girls compete in anyway without her encouragement? Yeah, right.

At this point, I'm just wondering which Final Five Olympian — Douglas, Biles, or Kocian — will show up at DWTS next to keep up the team spirit.
