Brangelina's Last Interview Showed Their Love

After TMZ broke the shocking news that Angelina Jolie has filed for divorce from Brad Pitt, stunned fans have gone looking for clues that this would happen in their old interviews. Though notoriously private, the pair has opened up about their love life in the past. In fact, Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt's last interview before the split gave fans a look inside their marriage. Conducted in November 2015 on the Today show, the pair was celebrating one year of marriage and over a decade of dating. But, if you were hoping that the interview would be filled with a sense of impending doom, you'd be wrong. No couple looked more in love than these two when they were in a room together, which is why it's so heartbreaking to hear this news. Bustle reached out to reps for the pair about this news, but has not yet received a response.

Tom Brokaw interviewed the couple, who was promoting their film By The Sea, and they sat next to each other holding hands and joking throughout the interview. At one point, Brokaw labeled the couple's marriage as "one of the most secure marriages in Hollywood." At the time, Jolie and Pitt agreed. In fact, Jolie said the reason she and Pitt were able to portray a dysfunctional couple in By The Sea was because it was so far from their own life. "I'm counting on the audience to know that if it was close to us at all, we never could have made this film," she said of the troubled characters she and Pitt played. "It's because we're actually very, very stable, and these aren't our issues."

Whether there were cracks forming at the time of this interview or not, no one saw this breakup coming. They really did seem to have one of the most secure marriages in Hollywood and everywhere else. We don't yet know all the details surrounding Jolie's decision to end her marriage, though the couple's attorney, Robert Offer, confirmed to the Associated Press that she had filed for divorce "for the health of the family."

In the Today show interview, Pitt talked about Jolie's decision to get a double mastectomy and have her ovaries removed to decrease her cancer risk, which was high in her family. He commented on how inspired he had been by the strong choices she made in order to ensure that she would be around for her children and family. If Jolie did file for the health of her kids, perhaps he will come to respect that decision as well — no matter how hard this may initially be for him and for fans of the pair.
