Brad Pitt Issues Statement About Angelina Jolie

by Caitlin Flynn

Now that everyone on social media has seemingly weighed in regarding the end of Brangelina, Brad Pitt's statement about his divorce from Angelina Jolie has been released. As reported by PEOPLE, Pitt's brief statement reads: "I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well being of our kids. I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time."

Jolie's lawyer, Robert Offer, confirmed on Sept. 20 that the pair has decided to end their relationship of 12 years. Jolie herself has not publicly spoken out about the divorce, but Offer's statement contains a similar message as Pitt's: "This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time."

No further details regarding the divorce have been provided by either party. Both statements make clear that Pitt and Jolie want their privacy during this time, so we shouldn't expect to hear much from either of them anytime soon — and, for the sake of their kids, this is totally understandable. Having your parents' divorce play out in the public eye can't be easy and these children didn't choose to be household names, so let's hope everyone leaves the kids alone and keeps them out of this high-profile story entirely.
